WHY CAN A GOOD TECHNICIAN CHARGE A LITTLE MORE???

Tools don’t make the expert, knowledge does. You can name your price if you know your stuff. I read a story once, about a steamship boiler failing."

"The owner tried one expert after another, but none could figure out how to fix it. Then, they called an old local mechanic who had been fixing boilers since he was young.”

“The frail old man came, carrying with him just a small bag of tools. He listened to the distraught engineer, asked a few questions, then went into the boiler room. They followed him in.”

“He looked at the maze of twisting pipes, and felt them with his hands. He listened to their heartbeat and heard what they had to say."

"Then humming softly to himself, he reached inside his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the boiler awoke from slumber.”

“As it hissed and roared, the old mechanic put away his tool and left. There was much jubilation on the steamship. Later, the owner received a bill for ten thousand dollars."

"What?" he exclaimed when he saw the invoice, "$10,000 for a puny tap. He hardly did anything. I was prepared to pay him well, but this is outrageous!"

"So he had his solicitor write to the old mechanic, requiring an itemized bill. He got back a bill which read:

Tapping with the hammer.........$10
Knowing where to tap ........$9,990”

Hi Jon, review as promised for your website:

Jon has worked on 2 motorhomes for us, the first was to track an elusive engine management fault on a Ducato 2.0 JTD and the second was to remedy a fault in the lighting circuit of a LHD Ducato 2.3 130 multijet. He also carried out extensive modifications to the rear-view camera and installed a blind-spot camera all at very reasonable cost. I have no hesitation in recommending his services. Mike Husbands - May 2016Hope that's OK - if you need any changes just let me know.Regards, Mike

‘BRANSTON LIMITED REVIEW WITH REFERENCE TO THE WORK CARRIED OUT ON A DOUBLE DECKER REFURB AS PART OF A PROMOTION FOR THE TESCO FARM TO FORK CAMPAIGN.

We converted a 17 year-old Olympian double decker into an educational resource for children to help them learn all about potatoes and their journey from farm to fork. Jon provided invaluable help and advice with the electrical systems on the bus, rigging us up a bespoke invertor and an external power supply so that we could run a range of electrical equipment on board. His knowledge on buses and how to get the best out of them proved very useful and he persevered to make sure that everything worked properly.’

Review for Bardney Auto Electrical Services - Chico Winterton

I discovered Bardney Auto Electrical recently, I needed what many would consider to be a simple job, that is providing a constant live from the fuse box of my van to the rear to fit additional lighting. As I live close by I dropped the van in with minimal instruction and picked her up the next day, not only had the job been done, it had been carried out above all expectation. Everything was neat and tidy, cable fitted through conduit, secured and safe, most proffessional and possible the nicest part, at a very reasonable price.

After such a positive start I got back to Jon and enquired about reversing sensors for the van, after demonstrating some he had fitted to his own people carrier and giving me a quote the van was quickly back in his hands. Once again everything was turned around fast and apart from actually having reversing sensors now there was no sign that anything had been disturbed at all!

I will be sending more jobs Jon's way, he is most proffessional, gives honest advice and apart from a small invoice and a new item being fitted I'd doubt anyone would ever know he has been into the vehicle.

What a great guy! Prompt call out on a Sunday! Knowledgeable, skilful and a fair price for the work done on my Caterham 7. Jon replaced the starter motor and safety cut-off switch. He also checked the electrics on the car to give me piece of mind. I would heartily recommend him to anyone!

REVIEW FOR BARDNEY AUTO ELECTRICAL SERVICES

i recently had a reason to call out Green Flag as my car would not start, after they had checked the car over they put it down to the cars immobiliser and they could not sort the issue out. Having searched the local area for an auto electrician i found Bardney Auto’s. We contacted Jon and he arranged to call out that evening on his way back from another job, this he duly did. When Jon came he did some investigation work but because of how the car was positioned he was unable sort, he offered to arrange for the collection of the vehicle to his place of work but my Green Flag covered this. Jon had the car and resolved the issue the following day at a very good price. I would have no hesitation in using Bardney Auto’s again or recommending them.
many thanks
steve Horton, Heighington.

I have an old (1991) motor home that had a few annoying intermittent faults (the worse kind!) A nearly new starter motor that would occasionally not engage, a faulty ignition light that wouldn’t go out even though the system was charging and a relay that would work one day and not the next!!

The faulty ignition light had been a problem for over three years. I previously had many trips to various garages and auto electricians without success before (via Google) coming across Jon at Bardney Auto Electrical Services. I left the motor home with him and in no time at all he rang to say he had traced the fault on the ignition light and relay and repaired them and wrote a report on the starter motor that enabled me to go back to the original supplier and get a brand new replacement.

I would recommend this company to anyone. It’s not a massive but Jon really knows auto electrics which, at the end of the day, is all that matters.

A very satisfied customer!

I selected Bardney Auto Electrical after reading the excellent reviews on Jonathan's site. We have a '89 Chevy G20 van that had been converted to a campervan but we were concerned about some of the electrical work that had been carried out. Also, we wanted Jonathan to carry out (a huge list) other non electrical ancillary work to make more our campervan more versatile when we toured Scotland prior to heading down to Southern Italy later this year.

We left the van for Jonathan to conduct his review and give us an estimate of how long and how much it would take to revamp our campervan. What was pleasing is that Jonathan was very enthusiastic about this project and we had our estimate within 48 hours, in addition he had come up with fantastic ideas of his own to make our van more practical when camping and at a very, very competitive price. He kept us up to date with progress, invited us over to check over the quality of his work and to ensure this was exactly what we were after.

When we collected the campervan with every listed item of work completed and to a very exacting standard. We now have complete confidence in the electrics, we have a working lighting system, a secured leisure battery with campervan compliant fuse box, new interior spot lights, new reading lights, a bespoke fitted fridge, additional plug sockets, new horn, running and bull bar lights, additional storage - the list is endless.

We have now toured Scotland and we are looking forward to our trip to Italy. Bardney Autos are complete professionals, honest, down to earth (no pun intended) electrical mechanics and we would highly recommend their work to anyone.

Best regards,

Cathy and Pete

Gemini. Seamaster 30

8 May 2014

The Seamaster 30 was built some 40 years ago. Wiring in those days was to say the least

basic although functional. Over the years previous owners added a variety of additional

items of electrical equipment, the quality of wiring generally was poor. So where do you

start? My decision was to remove the old alternators, and external control units, this I had

done before but wanted a little extra. This is where contacting Jon at Bardney Auto

Electrical Services paid dividends.

Firstly Jon came to look at the task, he spent time discussing the available options and my

requirements. He then went away to search for available products and prices. Once these

were found he emailed a technical drawing to me along with a list of materials and labour

costs. These were agreed on and a date and time set for the completion of the work. On the

agreed date and on time Jon began the work, although this took a little more time than  he thought,

his original estimate was honoured. After the work was completed Jon maintained

contact with me to ensure that all was well. He also was there to answer questions

concerning the electrical work i wanted to complete myself.

Customer care, good communications, clear estimates for the work, delivering on

timescales and great quality were my experiences of this company. Indeed such was the

service received that Jon also picked up three more commissions from other boat owners!

It is so difficult choosing a company that you don't know, my objective in writing this review

is to let others know just how well things went. Jon is a competent engineer who is up to

date and can make suggestions on improving systems. I have no reservation in making this

positive recommendation.
